I have a 3 month session coming up (possibly this weekend), so I thought I'd share some of the items I picked up recently to use as props. I can't wait to play with baby Emma again!

Some of the stuff I picked up was for Valentine's Day type photos of her since we were supposed to have her session done before Feb 14. With all the snow we've gotten we had to reschedule to this weekend instead.

I decided to make a cake with the kids. Cause, why not right?!

The final product - right out of the oven.... (we warmed some chocolate frosting and poured it over the cake. yum!)

Yesterday Rob bought Ashlyn and I some tulips for Valentine's Day. (he said the pinks are for Ashlyn and the reds are for me) What a sweet husband and daddy!

Tulips are my absolute favorite! So today we, (the tulips and I), had a photo session. :)

I am sitting here in front of them while I prepare this post and they smell SO good. I wish I could share that with you too!

Today we're doing a little sneak peek at what's going on INSIDE the house.

We are slowly renovating the whole house and right now we are focusing on the entry and hallway. These photos are of the entry (in progress).

These first 3 photos were taken a while ago....

First we pulled up the slate tiles.

Then we replaced the front door. (I LOVE my new door!)

These are the photos from today of the current work. Rob has pulled the carpet off the stairs and sanded the steps to prep them for staining.

Then I opened the door to go to the backyard from our laundry room. Usually you can see the patio and pool from here.

Compared to the shots of the pool yesterday, you can see that it is now completely covered in snow.

And so are those lounge chairs haha!

This was shot from the door that leads to the backyard under the deck. Again, you should be able to see the pool.

I am starting to have an aversion to the color White! ;)

Had to take a break from the snow (don't fret, more coming soon haha). So today I snapped pics of the Fatheads in the kids' rooms. We got them one for Christmas '08 and one for Christmas '09.

This first photo was taken yesterday. After we dug out and parked the cars in the driveway it continued to snow and this is what we found after it stopped.

Just before 8 a.m. It's been snowing since about 10 a.m. yesterday. Blizzard conditions. Think we're at about 14" or so at this point.

Between 10 and 11 a.m. We went out to shovel the top 1/3 of the driveway.

The plow came through and made giant piles on the sides of the road...

We cleared both sides and moved our trucks out of the garage into that area in the hopes that there would be less to shovel there later

So they are calling for a big snow storm over the next couple days. And if they are right, we are getting another one later next week! So I thought I would show various stages of accumulation.

It started snowing just a couple hours ago. What you see on the trees and driveways/street is current. What is on the lawns is still there from the last snow we got a few days ago!

I have a session coming up soon with a sweet 3 month old baby girl. In prepration for this shoot I have been buying some props. I had this tutu made to match a hat I purchased with the same colors - brown, 2 shades of pink, and white.

I work as a substitute teacher on occasion and today I worked for a friend of mine in her 5th grade class. Took a quick snapshot of the classroom for todays POTD. I don't usually work with 5th grade, but I had a good time working with these kids today!

Happy February!!

This is Ashlyn's science fair project. She chose to do her project on Camera Shake. 13 different shutter speeds - one set taken holding the camera in her hand and one set taken with the camera on a tripod.

She finished up what was left to do last night and then glued everything on the board this morning (school started 2 hrs late due to the snow over the weekend), so that she could turn it in today - right on time!

I think she did a great job!

I really wanted to go here yesterday, but I got snowed in. Yep, it snowed AGAIN! The weather people - you know them, the ones who are supposed to know what they are talking about - said expect a dusting of snow. Well it snowed most of the day and because no one was prepared for that, the roads didn't get plowed till late. Regardless of that though, our driveway was not going to get plowed so I was snowed in either way. Did I mention our "dusting" was somewhere between 4" & 6"?

So my wonderful hubby cleared the driveway today and I was able to get the dinner I wanted!

Let me preface this post by saying that today was a busy day. Lots of errands and running around. So I snapped pics of all the places I went today thinking that I would make a "day in my life" type post. BUT....

Today is Ethan's birthday!!! My little guy turned 9 today. Whenever the kids birthdays fall on a weekday and we end up doing a party on the weekend I always make it a point to do something on their actual day - a few gifts and some sort of treat with candles to blow out. So I got shots of that too.

Question is, do I post both sets of photos for the day or save my "day in the life" idea for another time? Hmmmm, we'll see...

Most importantly though, here are pictures of my sweet little guy enjoying HIS day!

The day started out very dark and gloomy. I was sitting in my office working and glanced out the window and saw a bit of blue peeking through. I thought this was a great start to the afternoon and a great contrast and wanted to catch it.

Ashlyn came to the nail salon with me and a friend today for mani/pedis. She's been before for a mani, but this was her first time getting a pedi. She chose her own color and opted for a design on both finger and toe nails. So cute!

We celebrated Ethan's birthday tonight with a Band Hero party with some great friends. He had said he wanted a bowling party but then also told me he wanted Rock Band for his gift. I gave him the choice of a bowling party or a Rock Band party. He finally chose and while shopping I came across Band Hero (same as Rock Band only Pop music instead), so that's what we went with.

He had a great time as did all the rest of us! Great times with great friends, as usual. :)

We were out running errands today so I snapped a few random photos along the way.

I don't get shots of all the vanity plates I'd like to. Usually not in the right spot, or don't have the camera, or not enough time to get it out and ready before traffic starts to move again, etc... This time timing and placement were perfect, so I snapped this shot.

Is it like "dumplin" or more like "dump lynn" ??

In RiteAid, walking down one of the aisles and Ashlyn points this out.... Really? Ok, I guess dogs need to be warm too lol.

The Destination Imagination (DI) teams held a fundraiser at Chuck E Cheese tonight. Ethan of course really wanted to go. As much as I didn't feel like leaving, I took both the kids down there after dinner (saved a little money that way - didn't have to buy pizza!) Saved extra money when I told the kids they had to buy their own tokens! haha

We ended up having a great time! The kids collected quite a few tickets too. Here are a few shots from the night....

No..... THIS is the first big score of the night. Ethan hit the Super Jackpot for 250 tickets. Ashlyn is in a state of disbelief haha.

And then, Ashlyn hits the Super Jackpot for ANOTHER 250 tickets!

One thing the 3rd grade studies is Japan. They spend the whole year learning about it. We went on a field trip once to DC to the cultural center and then for lunch at Benihana's (which was very good!).

Last week a project came home that the kids had to pick a subject about Japan and make a project board out of it. Pretty simple instructions, just have 5 special items on there (different colors, different fonts, different kinds of "decorations", pictures, etc..).

Ethan chose to make his board about Toys from Japan. It is due tomorrow and he just finished it this evening. This is what he created...

Not the best shot in the world. I was on my way to pick Ethan up from an after school meeting and saw the sun peeking through the clouds as it was setting. Way too many houses in the way to get a really good shot of it. I looked for better spots the whole way there and never found one. By the time we left the school it was set.

I didn't get a photo today either, so I am going to share a recent photo I took of a sweet baby girl for her newborn session. I am preparing to shoot her 3 month photos in a couple weeks. Stay tuned to see some of the fun props I bought for that session!

In this photo you can see one of the hats from Day 4 was used. We actually used all but one of those hats during that session. :)
